Andrew Haswell Green Park

Designed for NYC Parks Department.

Andrew Haswell Green Park is a great park in progress on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.  The property runs in a narrow line between the East River and the FDR highway, with access provided by several ramps.  By the time design started, it had been used industrially for many years, including as a garbage transfer station and a heliport.

Our design solution included collaboration with many in the Parks Department, local officials, and the very active and interested community.  Phase 1  provided a new dog run along with a new greenway connection.  The much larger Phase 2 is shown in the rendering at left.
