The owners of this Long Island residence are talented creative professionals, and needed a home landscape that would fit their aesthetic tastes. At the same time, the design solution had to accommodate the space’s practical uses, ranging from gardening to holding events.
We worked with the long, narrow space to form a series of terraced patios, forming a series of outdoor rooms linked together by a smooth circulation route. Construction is currently underway. We expect the results to be transformational.
The design for the front of the house is tasteful and simple, in keeping with the neighborhood’s context.
A partially concealed path suggests interest and invites guests to enter.
Carefully selected plants focus attention as visitors traverse the path’s arc.
As the visitor approaches the rear of the house, the first patio comes into view, suggesting interesting views ahead.
The main patio opens up a view of the whole space.
The design breaks up the linear space while keeping everything unified.
This central patio links the other two spaces with the house, and also serves as an informal sitting space on its own.
We worked with the clients to select custom furniture, helping to define each space.
